Międzynarodowa konferencja „Le théâtre, lieu d’affrontement politique et social, du Cid à Hernani.

[FR] Nous invitons tous ceux qui dans leurs recherches s’occupent du théâtre de 1638 à 1830, en tant que lieu d’affrontements idéologiques, politiques et sociaux, à nous envoyer leurs propositions de communication traitant les sujets suivants :

• le théâtre comme lieu de divulgation de la politique officielle du gouvernement,
• le théâtre comme outil de pression de/sur l’opinion publique, 
• le théâtre comme lieu de  prises de positions politiques et sociales,
• le théâtre comme lieu d’endoctrinement et de réalisation des utopies socio-politiques,
• le théâtre comme moyen de réparation/de corruption des mœurs,
• le théâtre comme lieu de consolidation des traditions/de propagation des réformes esthétiques, politiques et sociales audacieuses.

Chacune des questions inscrites sur la liste ci-dessus, qui n’a pas la prétention d’être  exhaustive, peut être envisagée sous différents angles, par exemple du point de vue du public, des dramaturges, des acteurs, des autorités en place, enfin du point de vue contemporain ou historique. Bien que le colloque soit ciblé sur la France, nous resterons ouverts aux perspectives étrangères ainsi qu’aux études comparatistes.

[ENG] We invite scholars working on theatre (1638 to 1830) to submit proposals on one of the following subjects:

• theatre as a space for the diffusion of official governmental politics,
• theatre as instrument of pressure on public opinion,
• theatre as a space for taking sides in political and social debates,
• theatre as a means of indoctrination and of realization of social and political utopias,
• theatre as a space for forming and shaping national identity,
• theatre as a means of enhancement of mores/moral corruption,
• theatre as a space for consolidation of traditions/propagation of bold reforms.

Each of these questions can be considered in a different light, that is one may address from the point of view of the public, of the playwright, of actors, or of the authorities. the temporal perspective may equally vary; it can be either contemporary or historical. Although the conference is centered predominantly on France, we welcome comparative and foreign perspectives.
